Hello AV, got my records yesterday came really fast and played Ramirez – Orgasmico as it said lovely record and sleeve record really mint I’d agree. Then Baby D – Casanova this record was as well more a mint than VG+ like you said not a scratch on it, was made up just the last record Velvet – Hold Me skips about a minute into the record and to be honest VA out of the 3 I got from you this record had a lot of scratches on it a bit of a warp but the other two were as you said close to mint I’d of said mint great condition just Velvet – Hold Me does skip gutted as the first two were that good AV.

Can you take a listen to the files in the link below and point out where these issues are please? (i.e. which tracks have issues and approximate timing)

Hello AV, hope alls well I’ve followed your steps from the last message you sent. As I’ve said it’s the record Velvet – Hold Me that has the skip on it I’ve listened to the audio of the record you’ve sent and that runs just fine. Now on my first message i said it was skipping at about a minute but I’ve had a few listens to the record now and it skips on 33.77 seconds then plays on fine. I hope I’ve listened to the right link that’s been sent as I’ve never had to do this just hope it’s right like I’ve said the link you sent doesn’t skip at 37.77 seconds but on the record I’ve received it does. The other two were graded the same and they were both like mint not a scratch in sight but it’s the record Velvet- Hold Me that has the skip at the said time hope this helps AV

Hi Noel,

It could be your equipment as it plays perfect for us (the recording shows no skipping at all for all 3 tracks)

We would suggest the following tips:

Clean your stylus as fluff and debris from records can clogg up a stylus and cause issues such as skipping and won’t cost you anything.

Try adjusting the anti-skating on your turntable, or/as well as the weight / balance ratio (google how to set up a tone arm for your specific turntable)

If all of that fails, replace the stylus.

We use the following equipment when recording all records;

Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP Professional Direct Drive Manual Turntable
Ortofon Concorde Mix MKII Cartridge
Pioneer DJM-250 ML II Mixer
Tascam SS-R100 Solid State Recorder

We appreciate that the higher end ‘Pro’ equipment such as Technics should be error free when playing back all records but some cheaper alternative turntables such as Lenco, Bush and Denon will have issues playing records with lots of bass (i.e. most Dance Music)
